Black History:  Special Delivery!!

“You Just Need To Be White To Win”: Thai Ad Pulled Of Model In Blackface

Black History: Special Delivery!!

Thai cosmetics company, “Seoul Secret” recently featured Thai actress Cris Horwang in an online video ad for its skin whitener product, “Snowz”. Horwang wears blackface makeup in the video, with the ad slogan, “You just need to be white to win”. In the video Horwang discusses being an aging actress. Her image begins to darken in the video as a metaphor for her popularity beginning to fade with the public. Civil Rights Leader Rep. John Lewis Has Navy Ship Named In His Honor

 On January 6, Rep. John Lewis (1940 – ) of Georgia had a Navy ship named in his honor; “USNS John Lewis”. The ship, yet to be built, will be part of the next generation fleet of naval replenishment ships. Other ships in the fleet will also be named after civil rights activists.
