Great quote! The wisdom of Malcolm X stands tall today with relevance to all ‘organizers’ who seek to mobilize people in support of change! We must make certain that we illustrate the implications of inaction, and make sure that it is fully understood regarding impact on their own lives. Make it personal, relatable, and that will be the ‘awakening’ necessary for a commitment to action.
If people don’t know, they won’t act, and when discouraged to the point of apathy and feeling powerless to effect change, we will just sit back and let life happen instead of making life happen.

So true…..even sometimes when people do know, the knowledge can be paralyzing, if they perceive that that are powerless to act or suffer with a learned dependence on systems and structures that promote oppression rather than independence. These systems are often masquerading as so well intentioned individuals our organizations who do not recognize our understand systemic/structural racism sand other isms that promote oppression, but also are keep in place by those who profit from the oppression.
