Black History: Special Delivery!!

Inequities and disparities are toxins planted with intention and inattention into the souls, soil, and systems within our communities. Our ‘strategies of choice’ in addressing inequities and disparities too often prioritize the comfort of the oppressor over and above the liberation of the oppressed.

Congress Maxine Waters is given us all LIFE!  In response to remarks made by Bill O’Reilly about her hair…..Waters comeback was EPIC!  Check out the video and be inspired.  One of the quotes we love from her comments was:  “I am a strong BLACK WOMAN.  I CANNOT be intimidated and I’m not going ANYWHERE!”  A more complete clip is also available from MSNBC,

Angela Davis On Identifying & Dismantling the Structures In Which Racism Is Embedded!

Black History:  Special Delivery!!

Quote:

“The challenge of the 21st century is not to demand equal opportunity in the machinery of oppression, but rather to identify and dismantle those structures in which racism continues to be embedded” -Angela Davis

This quote challenges us, “not to demand equal opportunity in the machinery of oppression”.    What a thought provoking statement!    If we “demand” and then receive “equal opportunity in the machinery of oppression” what have we really gained?  Are we “struggling” in the right direction?

What are you thoughts on this quote Black Mail Readers? We’d love to hear your feedback!
