Black History: Special Delivery!

Octavia E. Butler was a pioneering science fiction writer and the first Black woman to gain widespread recognition in the genre. Through works like Patternmaster, she explored themes of power, hierarchy, survival, and human connection in ways that mirrored real-world social systems.

Her insight challenges us to look beyond surface-level change and ask deeper questions about autonomy and authority. True liberation goes beyond cosmetic change or superficial attempts at inclusion. It is a structural transformation that shifts the balance of power.
