Black History: Special Delivery!!

no confederate flag

58 year old Susan Thompson left a print image of the Confederate flag on her black co-worker’s desk shortly after the church shooting at Emmanuel AME Church in South Carolina where 9 people were shot and killed in June 2015. She then lied about it.

Thompson who is white is now facing up to five years in prison. She initially lied to federal investigators twice but eventually admitted that she placed the image on her co-worker’s desk. Both Thompson and her co-worker were federal employees working at the Army Corps of Engineers in Jacksonville, FL. The two reportedly did not have a good relationship even prior to the incident. Thompson has resigned from her position but does not feel that her actions were racially motivated. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.
