Black History: Special Delivery!!
Many are unaware that for Americans, Santa has been transformed from a Turkish Saint with a Black side kick named Peter to a white man in a red suit. Though much of his history is that of fairy tales and fantasy, it is interesting to consider his origins.
St. Nick first appeared in a red Santa suit in an 1863 edition of Harpers Weekly Magazine. Check out this 2013 Wall Street Journal article to learn more. It should also be noted that there are various forms and symbols of Santa around the world!
